The Almond Blossom Fairy |

Fairy Meaning: Hope
Leader of the dance
The Almond Blossom Fairy gleefully leads the Flower Fairies, holding a pink bough in her hand, the Almond Blossom urges the fairies to join hands. Round and round they dance, spinning wildly and laughing giddily.
Song
Joy! the Winter's nearly gone!
Soon will Spring come dancing on;
And, before her, here dance I,
Pink like sunrise in the sky.
Other lovely things will follow;
Soon will cuckoo come, and swallow;
Birds will sing and buds will burst,
But the Almond is the first!
Folklore
To ensure business success climb an almond tree.
Botanical Information
Common almond. Found on dry slopes and in woods, this deciduous, spreading tree has long, dark green leaves. Bowl-shaped pink or white flowers are borne on bare shoots in early spring. They are followed by round, velvety, green fruits, each containing the edible nut of the same name.
Botanical Name: Prunus Dulcis. Rosaceae.
Natural Order: Roseoplena.
Plant Indications
The almond is fully hardy. It prefers full sun, and may be grown in any but waterlogged soil. Wayward or diseased branches can be removed in early spring, or midsummer in areas where silver leaf is a problem. Sow seed in spring or root greenwood cuttings in early autumn. Height and spread: 8m (25ft).
